Why did Jesus say to buy a sword?
Question: (quotation from Luke 22:35-38): Then Jesus asked his disciples, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Not a thing,” they answered. He said to them: “But now,” Jesus said, “whoever has a purse or a bag must take it; and whoever does not have a sword, must sell his cloak and buy one. For I tell you that the Scripture which says, ‘He shared the fate of criminals ,’ must come true about me, because what was written about me, is coming true.” The disciples said, “See Lord! Here are two swords!” “That is enough,” Jesus replied. What did Our Lord mean here?

The genealogy of Jesus

Question: The Gospel of St Matthew commences with the lineage from Abraham to Jesus. This chronology attempts to list all the descendants of Abraham to Jesus. In chapter one, verse 16, it is stated: "Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah." If Joseph, husband of Mary was a descendant of Abraham, was Mary as well? If not, and the Holy Spirit "came upon" (Luke 1:35) Mary, how did our Lord descend from Abraham?

The particular and final judgments

Question: Is there a judgment passed upon a person immediately when that person dies? Is the judgment final? If so, why would there be what is called a final judgment at the end of time? Is it possible that, if there is a judgment passed when a person dies, that judgment could later change?

Sequence of events at the end times?
Question: Some religions believe that the world will end when our Lord comes. He will pronounce judgment on all souls living and dead; then Heaven or Hell will commence in body and spirit for all. Others believe that there will be the rapture, then our Lord will come. He will pronounce judgment on all souls living and dead; then He will rule over a "new heaven and a new earth" for a thousand years; then there will be Heaven or Hell for all in body and spirit. Other religions believe other things. In accordance with your religion, what is the sequence of events that will be happening?

Book of Revelation...is it relevant today?
Question: In my Bible Study group we have had discussions whether the Book of Revelation is describing happenings that would be occurring closer to the time this book was written, rather than a foretelling of the end of time for us today. What is your opinion?

Charitable Giving
How can I be sure dollars stay here?
Question: I regularly give to charitable organizations but, because of the current economy, I want to make sure my donation is specifically used locally to help those who have been affected due to company layoffs, downsizing, etc. How can I ensure my contribution stays here and is not used elsewhere?

Why can’t it be a simple “yes” or “no?”
Question: So often Pastors, Ministers and Clergy seemingly “dance” around the answers to two questions: “If one lives a good and moral life, helping others, yet never accepts our Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son, as his or her personal Savior, and that He came down from Heaven to suffer and die for each of us, to purchase our salvation…will he be saved?” I would think with the billions of people that have been born into this life, the answer should be either a simple “yes” or “no.” The second question, “If there are only two possibilities (Heaven or Hell), will an all-merciful and all-just God condemn a person like this to Hell?”
